Chitral Airport (Urdu: چترال ہوائی اڈا‎) (IATA: CJL, ICAO: OPCH) is a small domestic airport situated 2 NM (3.7 km) north of the city center of Chitral, in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. Chitral (Urdu: چترال‎, Khowar: چھترار; also known as Chetrar), translated as field in the native language Khowar, is the capital of the Chitral District, situated on the western bank of the Kunar River (also called Chitral River), in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Pakistan. It also served as the capital of the former princely state of Chitral.The town is at the foot of Tirich Mir, the highest peak of the Hindu Kush, which is 25,289 ft (7,708 m) high. It has a population of 20,000. The altitude of the valley is 3,700 ft (1,100 m). Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (Pashto: خیبر پښتونخوا‎ [pəxtunˈxwɑ]; Urdu: خیبر پختونخوا ‎ [ˈpəxˈtuːnxwaː]), (KPK) formerly called North-West Frontier Province and several other names, is one of the four provinces of Pakistan, located in the north-west of the country. Pakistan, is a sovereign country in South Asia.
