Nile Air (Arabe:النيل للطيران) is an airline with its head office in the Sheraton Heliopolis in Cairo, Égypte. Plans for the airline were announced in the 2007 Dubai Air Show.
The airline launched operations in August 2010, initially operating a short term wet lease contract with Libyan Arab Airlines and scheduled services were launched from Egypt in March 2011. Nile Air initially launched flights to Saudi Arabia before beginning services to other Middle East & Gulf destinations. Dr. Nasser Al-Tayyar (Chairman of Al-Tayyar Travel Group and Founder of Nile Air) said that the airline also plans to sell 30% of its shares to the public in an initial public offering (IPO). “We will list the shares on the Cairo bourse in 2010/2011” À partir de décembre 2013, Nile Air serves the following destinations with scheduled services: Le Caire – Cairo International Airport, Alexandrie – Borg El Arab Airport, Koweït – Aéroport International de Koweït, Yanbu – Yanbu aéroport, Qassim – Qassim Airport, Ta’if – Ta’if Regional Airport, Tabuk – Tabuk Regional Airport, Jeddah – Aéroport de Jeddah. Other destinations earmarked for future expansion will include Europe and Middle East.
The Nile Air fleet has an average age of 3.5 years and consists of the following aircraft (à décembre 2013): Airbus A320-232 and Airbus A321-200.
